FAQ
  • I'm booked in! What do I need to do to prepare for my tattoo?
Preparing properly for your tattoo appointment is crucial for ensuring the best possible experience and outcome. Here are the steps you should follow: 1. **Moisturize Daily:** Begin moisturizing the area where you plan to get your tattoo 3-4 days before the appointment. Use a gentle, fragrance-free lotion to keep your skin hydrated and in optimal condition for the tattooing process. 2. **Stay Hydrated:** Drinking plenty of water in the days leading up to your appointment will help keep your skin healthy and supple. Make sure you continue to stay hydrated on the day of your appointment as well. 3. **Eat Well:** Having a good meal before your tattoo session is important. It will help keep your blood sugar levels stable and provide you with the energy needed to sit through the appointment. 4.**Do NOT Shave:** I will shave the area on the day of your appointment. By following these preparation steps, you'll be better prepared for your session and help ensure a smoother, more comfortable tattooing experience.
  • How much does a tattoo cost?
The price varies depending on size, complexity/details, and location. The average rate for tattoo artists can range anywhere from $80-$300 an hour. Most shops that tattoo artists work out of have a "shop minimum" of $100 regardless of the size and details. Every artist will typically sets their own price because tattoo artists are independent contractors. This means that one tattoo artist may have a different price from another artist from the same shop. Some artists will start charging by the hour once stenciling begins or once the tattooing session starts. I personally charge by the hour starting the active portion of the tattoo session, with rates ranging from $100 to $125 an hour, depending on the design and location of the tattoo. Once we settle on your design and size, I’ll give you a better estimate.
  • Can I bring someone with me?
Yes, you can bring a friend or family member if you like! But keep in mind that the shop can get busy, so we want to make sure there’s enough space for everyone. Let me know ahead of time if you're planning to bring company.
  • How do I choose the right design?
First, think about what feels meaningful or exciting to you—whether it’s a symbol, quote, or piece of artwork. I love working with clients to personalize designs and make sure it’s something that really speaks to you. Send in any references or ideas, and we’ll work together to refine it into something unique.
  • How can I book a tattoo with you?
Booking with me is easy! My booking platform is very user-friendly and self-explanatory. Once booked you can chat with me there to have a direct one-on-on conversation about your tattoo.
  • Can I take blood thinners before my appointment?
Same answer as the alcohol, sorry no. The effects are the same.
  • Can I drink alcohol right before my tattoo?
Straight up, no. It’s best to avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours before your session. Alcohol thins your blood, which can lead to more bleeding and may affect the quality of the tattoo. I want your tattoo to heal perfectly, and that starts with a healthy body!
  • Will it hurt?
Tattoos do cause some discomfort, and it varies by location. Areas with more muscle or fat (like the upper arm or thigh) generally hurt less, while areas with less padding (like ribs or spine) can be more sensitive or areas with "thinner skin" like inside the thigh or on or near the armpit area. It’s usually described as a “scratching” or “vibrating” sensation, and it’s totally normal to feel some discomfort!
  • How do I choose the right tattoo artist?
Look at an artist’s portfolio to make sure their style aligns with what you’re looking for. Whether it’s realism, traditional, blackwork, or something else, every artist has their own specialty and some are generalists. Check reviews, ask friends, and, most importantly, choose someone whose work you truly connect with.
  • I just want a consultation with you without having to book with a deposit online. Can I contact you in another way?
Yes! We can briefly message via text or phone call and we will go from there. You can reach me at: (656) 234-9096
  • How will I know when the tattoo is finished?
When we’re done, I’ll show you the tattoo and make any necessary touch-ups. Then, I’ll clean it up and apply a bandage. I’ll walk you through the aftercare process before you leave to make sure you know how to look after it properly.
  • Will you take breaks?
Absolutely. We’ll both need to take breaks during longer sessions. I’ll check in with you regularly to make sure you’re doing okay. I keep my personal breaks to a minimum to ensure that I am fulfilling your time effectively.
  • How long will the session take?
I wish I could give an exact time! It really just depends on the size and complexity of the tattoo. Small tattoos may take around an hour or so (given that it has some to minimal detail), while larger pieces could take multiple hours or even multiple sessions. I’ll give you a rough estimate when we discuss the design.
  • Can I watch you work?
Of course! Most clients like to watch, and it’s totally fine. Just make sure you’re not crowding me or distracting me while I’m working. And if you feel lightheaded or faint at any point, just let me know so I can help.
  • What should I do during the tattoo session?
The best thing you can do is stay relaxed and as still as possible. If you need a break, just let me know. I’ll make sure to take regular breaks for both of us. Bring something to distract yourself with (headphones, a book, or your phone), but be mindful of giving me the space I need to work.
  • What should I expect when I arrive?
When you arrive, we’ll have your consultation (please bring your government issued ID) if we haven't had one done already to make sure everything looks good with your design and placement. Then I’ll clean and prep the area, and we’ll get started. Don’t worry—if you have any last-minute minor changes or questions, I’m happy to address them before we begin! Sometimes placing the stencil can take up to an hour, so please be prepared and patient for this process. I want to make sure that it will be placed exactly where you'd want it to go. Once the stencil is on, I allow it to dry for about 15-20 minutes before I tattoo the area.
  • Any other general tattoo care tips?
    - Keep it clean and moisturized: Your tattoo needs proper care in the first few weeks to heal well. - Use sunscreen: Once your tattoo is healed, always use sunscreen on it to prevent fading and skin damage. - Be patient: Healing takes time, and your tattoo might change a bit in appearance as it settles into the skin. Trust the process! If you have any more questions, don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m here to help make sure your tattoo looks amazing and heals properly! Enjoy your new body art!
  • How long does it take to heal?
The outer layer of your tattoo will heal in about 2-3 weeks. However, the deeper layers of skin can take up to 2-3 months to fully heal. During this time, you might notice the tattoo looking a little dull or flaky—don’t worry, it’s normal! It will brighten up shortly after!
  • Will my tattoo fade overtime?
Yes, tattoos naturally fade a little over time due to things like sun exposure, aging, and natural skin shedding. The best way to keep your tattoo looking fresh is to wear sunscreen on it and avoid excessive sun exposure once it’s healed. Only apply sunscreen after the 3-4 week mark.
  • What should I do immediately after the tattoo session?
After your tattoo is finished, I’ll clean it and apply a bandage. You should leave the bandage on for at least a few hours. When you remove it, gently wash the tattoo with lukewarm water and mild soap (nothing scented!) and let it air dry. I’ll give you more specific aftercare instructions before you leave. It is also in the aftercare section of my page.
  • Will my tattoo scab?
For the most part, yes, your tattoo will form a scab as part of the healing process. It’s important not to pick or scratch the scab, as this can damage the tattoo and cause scarring or fading.
  • How should I care for my tattoo in the first few weeks?
Keep it clean and moisturized. Gently wash it twice a day with mild soap and water, then apply a thin layer of aftercare ointment (like Aquaphor) for the first few days. After that, switch to a fragrance-free moisturizer. DO NOT pick at scabs or scratch your tattoo!
  • What should I avoid while my tattoo is healing?
Avoid direct sunlight, tanning beds, and anything that can irritate the tattoo (tight clothing, harsh chemicals, etc.). Don’t let the tattoo get too hot, and be gentle with it—no scrubbing or picking at scabs!
  • Can I moisturize my tattoo while it's healing?
Yes, please do so! Moisturizing is essential to keep your tattoo hydrated. Use a fragrance-free lotion or tattoo-specific aftercare product. Avoid anything with alcohol or heavy fragrances that could irritate your skin. But only apply a thin layer and do not over moisturize.
  • What if I notice signs of infection?
Signs of infection include excessive redness, swelling, heat, or pus coming from the tattoo. If you notice these symptoms, contact a healthcare professional right away and please let me know, as well!
  • Can I exercise or swim with a new tattoo?
For the first couple of weeks, try to avoid heavy sweating (like from intense exercise) and swimming. Pools, hot tubs, and oceans are full of bacteria, which can cause infection. Give your tattoo time to heal before exposing it to any of those elements. Pleeeeease follow this aftercare rule if you want to avoid infections or improper healing.
  • Can I wear clothes over my tattoo?
Yes, you can wear clothes over your tattoo, but I recommend loose-fitting, breathable fabrics that won’t rub or irritate the area.
